If you've been following the progress and crossovers of the new Avengers movie at all, you probably heard about how Louis Leterrier said there would be an easter egg with Captain America in The Incredible Hulk. Here's the exact quote from an interview with Collider back in June:
It’s an Easter egg. It’s not like oh, it’s Captain America and it changes everything. It’s still a Hulk movie, but it’s really Captain America and it’s there, you’ll see. It’s the real deal. You have to look for it.
Unfortunately, Captain America was nowhere to be found. As it turned out, the scene had been deleted. Here's another quote from the director during an interview with SOS Hollywood:
There’s a point when Bruce Banner gives up on his quest for the cure and decide to kill himself. So he travels far North and reaches the Arctic Circle. You might have seen bits of it in some of the promos. The result was a very dark and strong scene, which Marvel, me and everyone else’s considered to be too hard to young audiences to take, so we’ve cut it. Having that said, when Bruce arrives at his destination he meets up with Captain America! At some point this week, we will make it available on the internet – but I cannot tell you where or when – and the material will definitely be on the DVD.
Well, that certainly confirms what this is...

The above shot was captured from one of the deleted scenes on the DVD for The Incredible Hulk, featuring exactly what Leterrier described in his interviews.
As may you recall if you read the Captain America comics or are familiar with his story, he was frozen in a block of ice before becoming the leader of The Avengers initiative.
Though I've been loving all these crossovers between the characters from Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk and other upcoming Avengers crime-fighters, this one feels a little weak, not unlike the other Captain America easter egg (found in Iron Man, with what would appear to be his shield hidden behind Tony Stark).
It's not that I expect only the more blunt approach, like with Stark talking to 'Thunderbolt' Ross in The Incredible Hulk or Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) informing Stark about the Avengers Initiative after the credits in Iron Man. I just wish these were easter eggs you could actually spot on your own and say, "Wait, holy shit! Is that what I think it is?" Instead, it feels like the only way we can spot them is to actually be shown the exact frame which features the easter egg, and even then I'm sitting and wondering what the hell I'm looking at. Take the above screenshot for example; is that Captain America, or a fetus?
You decide.
