Interested in writing for Always Watching?
I'm looking for a team of about 2-3 news writers who can provide a unique, intelligent, and funny spin on daily film and TV happenings. I want writers who are capable of looking at a news item and finding something specific about it that stands out (whether it be humorous, bizarre or simply interesting/worthy of discussion), and then making that the focus of the article.
EXAMPLE ARTICLES:
A Plea for Red Band Trailers in Theaters: New "Observe and Report" Trailer Would Be Nothing Without Its F-Bombs [LINK]
News item: Red band movie trailer for "Observe and Report".
Focus of article: The need for red band trailers in cinemas.
What is Nicolas Cage Running From in New "Knowing" Photos? We Have the Answer! [LINK]
News item: Official photos for "Knowing".
Focus of article: The downfall of Nicolas Cage's career.
Bigger Doesn't Always Mean Better... Except with "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", In Which Case It Totally Does [LINK]
News item: Movie trailer for "Transformers 2".
Focus of article: A comical dissection of each frame from the trailer.
If you think you can offer a similar style of commentary on film/TV news as the above articles (but obviously tailored to your own idiosyncratic tastes), please email me at:
adamquigs [at] gmail.com
Enter "RE: News Writer" in the subject line, and provide the following information: (1) your name, (2) your age, (3) a brief selection of some of your favorite films/shows, (4) why you want to write for the site, and (5) any film/tv-related writing samples you may have. (If you don't have any writing samples, don't worry about it.)
NOTE: For now, these are unpaid positions. However, it's important to note that this would change over time, eventually becoming a pay-per-post arrangement. That should be seen more as a bonus than an incentive though, so please don't email if your only interest is making money. ;)
Feel free to ask any questions about the positions below.
And check out back-episodes of the /Filmcast here!

Writing for Always Watching
RE: Writing for Always Watching
Probably about 1 or 2 news articles a day, but details like that can be worked out later. I care more about quality than quantity.
Question about position
RE: Question about position
I'd prefer people use their real names, but like I said above, details like that can be worked out later. ...Although I'd probably say no to "ItPutsTheLotionInTheBasket70".
New vs. old.
RE: New vs. old.
All news articles would need to be specifically related to current film/TV news.

I've been getting way more emails than I initially anticipated, so I was just waiting for them to start winding down. I should have a final decision ready before the week is up.
