Finally, Some Decent Info on "Transformers 2"

Transformers 2 - Box Header
There's been a massive influx of news recently regarding Michael Bay's latest mega-blockbuster sequel, but hardly any of it has been anything truly worthwhile. Now, after months wading through the endless leaked set photos and newly revealed vehicles and ambiguous quotes from Michael Bay, something of interest has finally presented itself.

The Movie Blog has gotten word from a trusted source about some fairly major plot developments within the film. Not all of the details are completely clear, but the core concepts sound very in line with what we would expect from both Michael Bay and a Transformers sequel.

[Spoiler warning! If you aren't interested in learning about what could possibly be a major plot point of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (one which likely be revealed once the film gets a trailer), don't read any further.]

Here are the quote highlights from their source:

On the first day of class, Sam goes crazy just before getting to class for some reason. It seems there is some object that he was exposed to that affected him, our guess is the splinter from the cube.

Anyways, Rainn Wilson asks the class to turn to the first page of the text book. Everyone except Sam turns to [it]. Sam, instead, read the entire book in 5 seconds by just flipping through it, then starts telling Wilson’s character about what parts of his book are wrong. He also starts talking about how Einstein was wrong. Sam gets up from his seat and goes up to the chalk board and starts writing a lot of weird symbols on the chalk board (probably Cryptonian). Then he starts asking why nobody understands and then he leaves class. On the second day of class, he apparently returns, but acts less crazy.

The reason we suspect that it is an object he touches that makes him crazy is because there was a scene shot earlier where he was on the phone Fox’s character Mikaela, and he was asking her if she had “it” and then told her to make sure she doesn’t touch “it”. Our guess is the “splinter” (left over piece of the Allspark Cube), but it could be something else, of course.

Before making a final judgment call on how to feel about this information, I think it best to wait until there's some official confirmation. But even as a hypothetical, it's hard to know for sure how this aspect of the film will affect viewers' enjoyment of it. Probably not much. It's not like people loved the first movie for its spectacular story or anything.

That said, it's nice to know the filmmakers are at least trying to do something a little different with the storyline. They could've just as easily made it a two-hour session of robots beating the shit out of each other and nothing else.

Wait, come to think of it, why aren't they doing that?
