As a huge fan of Cohen and Apatow, I can comfortably admit this picture has instantly become one of my most awaited films of the next few years. Just the thought of Cohen and Ferrell playing the famed crime-solving duo is enough to get me chuckling. And to all the Ferrell-haters, it's important to keep in mind that he likely won't be portraying the obnoxious imbecile that's so commonly associated with his shtick, as it's Cohen that will be in the limelight here, so Ferrell will probably be forced to stick to the script more than usual.
That is, of course, if the story is going to play out at all like we expect. Since an official synopsis has yet to be announced, it's just as possible that the film will actually revolve more prominently around Ferrell, with Holmes being revealed as an idiot who gets all the glory for Watson's discoveries. That's just me rambling theories, mind you, but this being an Apatow production, I find it unlikely these guys would waste their time on a straight-up adapatation. I'm hinging my bets on there being an interesting twist on the material.
Even if that theory is right though, and Ferrell does have the more important role of the two, Sacha Baron Cohen and him shared so much hilarious chemistry on Talladega Nights that I can't really see a project like this failing either way.
