Many have been wondering if Zack Snyder would be able to condense the brilliance of Watchmen to a nearly 3-hour runtime, but here we see Harry Partridge do just that in a mere 70 seconds.
This brief cartoon intro, titled "Saturday Morning Watchmen", not only offers a hilarious lampooning of Hollywood's willingness to dumb down any property for a buck, but also manages to stuff in countless references to other classic cartoons. I noticed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Scooby Doo, and Jem, but I've also heard claims that it parodies Captain Planet, Turbo Teen, Cartoon All-Stars, and more. Can you spot them all?
And of course, as I'm sure many Watchmen fans will notice, there are plenty of winking references to the comic as well, such as: Rorschach's relationship with animals, the squid, Comedian being a rapist, Dr. Manhattan being able to give people cancer, and Ozymandias saving Comedian from falling out the window. Bravo, Harry Partridge. Bravo.
Thanks to Brett Arnold for the tip.
